The area around Le Seignus has plenty of options for visitors wanting to take it easy.
A
few miles from the chalet, and in the Mercantour National Park, is the Lac d'Allos - the largest high-altitude lake in
Europe, where you're guaranteed to see a
bushy-tailed marmot and possibly chamois and wolves!
Nearby are
historic walled towns like Colmars and Annot which are perfect for exploring on
foot and which have weekly markets and summer festivals.
A spectacular ride on the narrow-gauge
Chemin de Fer
des Pignes railway will take you to ancient towns such as Entreveaux with its cathedral
and citadel or to the metropolitan buzz of Nice.
Within
easy day trip distance of the chalet are the gorges of the Cians, Tinée and Var
rivers as well as the spectacular Grand
Canyon du Verdon which is, after its American namesake, the second deepest gorge in the world.
